WHAT is on offer?
Short 20 to 25 minute online hand drawing classes, we would like to call DRAWING TO COMMUNICATE. It will allow all students to understand how to generate perspective drawings of products. Unlike an art class the techniques covered will require a thin and thick black pen and a ruler or straight edge. The drawing exercises ideally need to be done on thin grade white A3 paper (not tracing paper) so that the students can trace their work to refine ideas quickly.

WHERE ?
The open online education content we are proposing across this year is wide and varied. Essentially your students will be able to drop into Product Design at Otago Polytechnic Dunedin campus and interact with teaching staff during the class via Cromecast or Zoom broadcast.

WHEN ?
For 2017 we are planning 4 -5 classes up to an hour each across the school term. Each class is free to enter with Facebook event notifications closer to the event time. The times can be co-designed with schools for the best learning outcomes for your students, so please contact Andrew if you are interested.

WHY?
Today we can communicate on the internet globally but only one language is universal - Drawing to Communicate. I have been teaching tertiary education for 10 years and found creative students that haven’t been shown how to communicate through drawing at home or at school often limit their creative career choices. The team at Otago Polytechnic Product Design believe our society needs thinkers that can communicate beyond language and maths, we all need designers that can communicate what does not yet exist.
